 Wood reconditioning and repair:

  • Reconditioning:  includes removing the old finish; drawing out petroleum-based oils; steaming and sanding out dents and gouges as possible; applying a hand-rubbed stock-oil finish, layer upon layer; cleaning out old checkering; waxing - $400

  • Repair of damages – $40/hour

 

Repair and refinishing fluid steel barrels:

 

  • Metal preparation, including removing pits and raising dents; re-bluing using the slow rust blue or Belgian blue process; and polishing bores - $350

 

Repair and refinishing twist-steel and Damascus-steel barrels:

  Color-case-harding:

  • Includes disassembly and cleaning; metal preparation; color case hardening (by Classic Guns, Turnbull Mfg, or other professional depending on make of gun); re-bluing trigger guard, screws, and other parts, as appropriate; and re-assembly - $600

 

Preventative maintenance servicing:

 

  • Full:  includes measuring and documenting key specifications (e.g., bore diameters, barrel wall thicknesses, chokes, length of pull, drop at comb and heel, cast, other); external inspection of barrels, wood, and receiver; disassembly of receiver and forend metal, hand cleaning, and inspection of parts; removal of tarnish and surface rust from receiver, as needed; reassembly; test firing - $250

  • Partial: includes measuring and documenting key specifications (e.g., bore diameters, barrel wall thicknesses, chokes, length of pull, drop at comb and heel, cast, other; external inspection of barrels, wood, and receiver; partial disassembly of receiver, ultrasonic cleaning, and inspection of visible parts; and reassembly - $100
     

Other gunsmithing services:

 

  • Opening chokes: $100 for one barrel, $175 for both

  • Light and medium honing: $75 for one barrel, $125 for both

  • Putting a gun back on face: $200

  • Re-soldering barrel ribs: $40/hour 

  • Fabrication of springs, screws, and other small parts - $40/hour
